Have you registered for C4YW? It’s not too late! This blog entry introduces you to the social activities that will be available at the conference, which are intented to help you create a new network of friends who may have a connection to your individual journey.
Imagine what a healthy lifestyle would be without simply walking, running, jogging, lifting weights or reframing from eating your favorite pastry. Eating healthy and exercising is not always easy, especially after a breast cancer diagnosis. The Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer (C4YW) hosted by Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) and Young Survival Coalition (YSC), provides workshops that will introduce women to innovative ways to take control of their breast cancer diagnosis. For example, the workshop Healthy Living: Food and Fitness will teach women how to take on a positive attitude toward healthy living during and after breast cancer treatment.
Along with the 27 workshops scheduled for C4YW, the only international conference for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 45, attendees can look forward to activities that create a sense of network and connection. The mission of the conference is to motivate and lend support to women whose diagnosis has had an impact on their family, friends, partners and children in a way that isn’t necessarily related to that of her counterpart who was diagnosed at an older age. By incorporating social events into the medical resources available at the conference, women gain a sense of unity as they realize that there is a network within their individual breast cancer journey.
One social event, “The Ultimate Girls Night In with Pure Romance,” offers tips and advice that are sensitive to the physical changes women experience after breast cancer. The founder of Pure Romance sells and promotes products that are intended to help women get their “groove” back. “DJ – Dancing & Desserts” gives attendees the chance to “dance like no one is watching.” During this social event, women can look forward to moving in tune with the rhythm of the DJ’s music selections. Research studies have shown that practicing yoga has healing benefits for women diagnosed with breast cancer. The last morning of the conference will begin with a basic “Rise & Shine Yoga” class.
When a young woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, she feels isolated and alone and social activities are the source to help her in her search for comfort. C4YW is scheduled for the last weekend in February at the Peabody Hotel in Orlando, Fl. Medical healthcare experts will inform women about the latest and most relevant information that will be beneficial in helping them to make empowered decisions.
