Thank you to Christopher Kadish and everyone who attended the successful, “Kick Ass Party for the Cure!” All of the proceeds, amounting in over $3,500, were directly donated to LBBC’s Cis B. Golder Quality of Life Grant, a program that provides small, one-time grants to newly diagnosed women with financial need who live in the Philadelphia region.
Christopher knows far too well how it feels to be a member of a family in need because of the financial burdens that breast cancer costs place on families. After Christopher’s mother died of breast cancer when he was 16, his father was shortly thereafter fired from his job. His father was forced to spend his entire savings on expenses to support his three children. Christopher felt the need to give back and hosted an innovative, fun and fiery hot party to celebrate his mother’s birthday and fight with breast cancer, to honor his father’s efforts to provide for the family while facing unemployment, and to support of all women affected by breast cancer.
The event was live and featured photo shoots, fun and games, drinks, food, live music, raffle prizes and even professional fire dancers! All participants donated their services. One of the fire dancers, Leah Trix, felt compelled to donate her services to the cause and to this event. She is a recipient of the Cis B. Golder Quality of Life Grant and admits that she doesn’t know where she would be without the support of LBBC.
“When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I didn’t have health insurance,” said Leah. “LBBC was there for me when I needed help. The organization not only provided me with financial help but also gave me the information I needed to make the best decisions regarding my treatment.”
